I’m writing this blog at the start of January, and the New Year means it’s a new start for people in many different ways. Some people are adopting new health and lifestyle routines, others are making resolutions to do things differently in their lives, and many are considering changing their careers… It’s at this time of the year that I have the most people contacting me with a desire to become a hypnotherapist.
A new career in hypnotherapy
Perhaps you’re one of those people who is considering whether a career in hypnotherapy is right for you this year, yet, with everything that’s going on in the world right now, there is a lot of uncertainty. However, by becoming a hypnotherapist you can remove that uncertainty, or at least reduce it significantly, because hypnotherapy is truly a ‘pandemic-proof’ career choice! Throughout all of the lock-downs, social distancing and other government restrictions that have taken place over the last couple of years, hypnotherapists have continued to work where other businesses and professionals have been unable to. Where many people have lost income, and even had to completely dissolve businesses due to Covid-19, in contrast, the majority of hypnotherapists have thrived, and their businesses have even grown stronger since 2020.
A truly flexible career
You may or may not be aware that hypnotherapy does not need to be done in person, and hypnotherapy sessions are frequently held online, over Zoom or other meeting platforms. As a modern hypnotherapist, your client only needs to be able to hear and interact with you verbally, which means online hypnotherapy is just as good as in-person hypnotherapy, and in some cases it’s even better!
Since 2020, a great majority of hypnotherapists have taken their therapy sessions online. Some therapists are still working in person, when they are able to, and working online when they are not. Other therapists, spurred by all the recent changes to our lives, are seeing clients solely online and making a fantastic living doing so.
The benefits of becoming a hypnotherapist
If you are considering changing career this year, hypnotherapy maybe the perfect option for you. There are some fantastic benefits, and the key benefit for many people is that you get to make a real difference in the world. As a hypnotherapist, you get the chance to help people overcome problems, and to move forwards beyond difficult times. For many people, this is the main reason they choose to become a hypnotherapist. The work is so rewarding, both emotionally and psychologically, not to mention financially! So, rather than spending thousands of hours each year of your life (of which we only have a limited amount) working for somebody else or stuck in unfulfilling career, you could be out there making a significant difference! Hypnotherapists can and do change lives, and you can learn how to be an ‘agent of change’ by becoming a hypnotherapist. Like any other skill, hypnotherapy can be learnt. You do not need to have any special skills, innate talents or previous training, because anybody can learn to become a hypnotherapist with the right training.
A career in hypnotherapy gives you masses of flexibility. Flexibility both in your social life, as well as financially. As a hypnotherapist, you will be your own boss. You get to choose how much you work, how many clients you choose to help per week, and also what you charge for your services. The hypnotherapists I have taught charge anything between £50 to £250 per hypnotherapy session, and some even more! If you do the calculations, this means you can work significantly less whilst earning a lot more. It also means you are free to make your own rules and to work when you want to, rather than sticking to the 9-to-5, or having to work overtime when you’d rather be at home spending time with your family, friends or just taking time for yourself. That means, if you’d only like to work a couple of days a week, or only in the evenings, you can. Even if you’d like to take an entire month off each year, you have that flexibility!
Hypnotherapy training for a new career
Whatever you’re doing in your life right now, whether you’re in full-time employment working a job that no longer suits you or your lifestyle… Whether you’re self-employed, unemployed, or even retired… and even if you have no previous therapy experience whatsoever, now is the time to seriously consider whether you want to be doing what you’re currently doing for the rest of your life, or whether it’s time to make a change for the better.
